I am so glad you are here! I am Kristen, wife to Ethan and mom to our 7 year old little girl.

I was born and raised in Richmond, VA and met my husband, Ethan, in college and we have been together since I was 20 years old. After college graduation, I moved to North Carolina as Ethan was starting his graduate degree. I served military members and their families full time during the week but needed a creative outlet! A new house and a dog later, I found myself pursuing my passion on the weekends photographing families and military homecomings.

6 years later, life took us in a different direction after Ethan finished his degree. We packed up and moved to the Windy City (to the surprise of our families and ourselves). Between Chicago traffic, full time jobs and fertility treatments I was not behind my camera like I wanted to be. Although being behind the camera took a back seat for a couple of years, my life and time was well spent as we were blessed beyond measure to welcome our little girl into the world in 2018.

As of August 2019, we officially call Williamston, MI home. I am blessed to be able to be there for all the moments for my little one as well as run Kristen Gibson Photography full-time. Wearing all of the hats that come with being an entrepreneur is no small feat & sometimes I feel like I am on top of it all and sometimes I feel like I am simply, surviving! No one teaches you how to be one person doing all of the jobs as an accountant, a whole marketing department, editor, photographer, creative, social media expert and website designer!

As a family, you will most likely find us camping around Michigan from spring through fall, at a fun park, at a pool in the summer, trying out a new ice cream spot, volunteering at church, or at a local farm picking whatever is in season! We embrace the cold weather and love to be outside in the snow (we are still making up for lost time of “winters” in the south). In our downtime, we love to be cozy, cook together, play games, read books as a family, have a family movie night or spend time with our friends.

As for me, my name is Kristen Theuerkauf (spelled like a tear you cry and a cough) but that tends to be totally confusing, so…to avoid any kind of confusion, I stuck with my maiden name, Kristen Gibson. Quality time is my love language, I am claiming 2025 as the year I actually get my own family photos taken, I love seafood especially blue crabs, I could eat a good cheese plate and my moms Italian cooking for the rest of my life, I run on Diet Coke, not coffee, my heart belongs to all people longing to hold a baby in their arms, and my happy place is spending time on the Chesapeake Bay in Reedville, VA at our family cottage.
