FAQ’s

Choosing a photographer is bound to come with questions! I totally understand as I would have similar questions! I have compiled a list of my most asked questions in hopes that it will help you! If you do have a question, there is an opportunity to ask at the bottom of this page! Ask away and I will get right back to you!

How far in advance should I book my session?

The type of session you are booking makes a huge difference in how long before hand you should book! If you are looking to book a newborn session, email me as soon as you know that you want to book with me, I will put you on the due date calendar to reserve your spot. I only accept a few newborn sessions per month! For mini sessions, I would encourage you to get on the 48hr Early Access list for mini sessions for priority booking. Mini sessions book quickly and there are limited spots. For mini session dates and details, be sure to follow @kgibsonphoto as well as my website! Typically families prefer to have a family portrait session on the weekend, because of this, my calendar fills up quickly. If you know that you want family photos in a particular month, reach out to me to get on the calendar as soon as possible!

Can I book a mini session at any time of the year?

Mini sessions are ONLY available at specific times of the year and on specific dates. I do not offer my mini session rate at any time outside of the specific mini session date.

What is the cost of your sessions?

The investment varies depending on the type of session. I am extremely transparent when it comes to pricing, if you are in need of detailed pricing information, please see the “Session Investment” portion of my website.

I am overwhelmed with outfits, what should I wear?

Wow! This is totally reasonable and what I hear from 90% of my clients! When you book with me, I will send you a guide that will help you prepare for our time together. This guide includes outfit suggestions and the basics of coordinating family outfits!

Just a few tips when planning your outfits:

  • Start with the pickiest, most difficult person to dress, then build other family member outfits around that person.

  • You can never go wrong with creams and neutral tones.

  • Keep patterns to a minimum, but don’t be nervous to add texture!

How many photos come with a session?

This is dependent on what session you book! Take a look at the options for sessions so you can see how many photos to expect with each type of session!

I firmly, in my heart believe that you know your children the very best. Kids are REALLY good at pulling out all the tricks when it comes to family photos and excel at making some faces in photos, and as a mom I am not immune to the feeling of disappointment when you get one photo of your kiddo and it happened to be the photo of them making a face that does not represent them!

I may find an image beautiful but you may feel differently because it doesn’t look like your kiddo in the way you know and love them, so the images I deliver to you are a reflection of your entire session with me giving you plenty of options so you have photos that represent your kiddos and family perfectly.

Where should I print my photos?

This is one of the top questions I am asked!

I work really hard to run my business as if I were the customer. I try really hard to put myself in your shoes in all aspects! Would I personally spend $45 on an 8x10 photo? The answer is no. So why would I ask you to do the same? I work with a professional print company only available to professional photographers. Therefore, when I choose pricing for my clients I try to make it as reasonable as possible to offer you the best quality so your investment in your session can look just as beautiful in prints.

Below is an example of the difference between printing through your gallery and choosing consumer grade print labs. The original image maintained all proper skin tones and saturations with no added overtones. The five prints on below the original are all from different labs. Consumer grade labs are not calibrated for professional photos and their equipment is not maintained to industry standard to insure that toner calibrations are correct.
